MAAYA SHO(マーヤ ショ)
書道家/芸術家

1977年 岡山県に生まれる

1983年 6歳で書道を始める

1993年 EU芸術家協会国際芸術優秀作家・ 赤塚暁月氏に才能を見出され師事

1994年 17歳で初の個展開催
第10会成田山競書大会 日本書道教育会議賞受賞

1996年 日展作家・田中節山氏に師事

1997年 大東文化大学文学部中国文学科 入学

1999年 謙慎書道展 入選

2000年 読売書法展 入選

2001年 大東文化大学文学部中国文学科 卒業

初の個展開催から研鑽を重ね、"古代文字"をモチーフとした独自のスタイルを確立。大学卒業とともに、書道家・MAAYAとして、活動を開始。

その表現の場は、多岐に渡り――
ロンドン大学での個展、ルーヴル美術館公認ロゴマーク制作、パリの飲食店店舗デザインをはじめ、著名アーティスト、クリエーターとのコラボレーションやテレビCM、国内外の雑誌などのメディアで表現を展開。タイ王室やタクシン元首相への作品献上など、VIPからも高い評価を獲得。

また、自身のキャラクターから、"書道クイーン"という新なスタイルでライブ・パフォーマンスも大きな注目を集めている。

そして、2011年。MAAYA SHOと名を改め、書道家/芸術家として本格的に始動。書をベにース、あらゆる枠を越えた表現者として、歩みはじめている。

1977 Born in Okayama prefecture

1983 started learning calligraphy at the age of 6

1993 Became a descendant of Gyogetsu Akatsuka who was awarded as an international excellent artist by International Associationof art Europe

1994 Held his first personal exhibition at the age of 17

Awarded by Japan Calligraphy Education Council at the 10th Naritasan calligraphy competition

1996 Studied under Setsuzan Tanaka, an artist of Japan Fine Arts Exhibition

1997 Entered Daito Bunka University, literature faculty, department of sinology

1999 Accepted for the Kenshin calligraphy exhibition

2000 Accepted for the Yomiuri Shoho exhibition

2001 Graduated Daito Bunka University

Through continuing cultivation of his skill since his first personal exhibition, he has established his unique style inspired by ancient letters. He started his career as a calligrapher MAAYA soon after his graduation from university.

His works have been shown at wide-ranging places and occasions such as holding personal exhibition at London university, developing official logotype of Louvre museum, worked on restaurant interior design in Paris, and so on. Besides he also put his works and performance out into the world through collaboration with distinguished artists/creators and through various media such as TV commercial and magazines inside/outside Japan. MAAYA's unique talent has been highly appreciated by various VIPs and so far he has offered his works to the royal family of Thailand and former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

In addition to his works, his live calligraphy performance also attracts much attention with his peerless style called 'calligraphy queen'.

In 2011, he renamed himself as MAAYA SHO and made a fresh start as a more impressive calligrapher/ artist. Although his works are always based on calligraphy, he aims to be and begin to be an genre-transcending artist.
